Cyber Monday Sale: Discounted NBA Lockout Merchandise!

If you didn’t feel like getting pepper sprayed at Wal-Mart this weekend, chances are you’re waiting until today, Cyber Monday, to do most of your holiday shopping. If you’re an NBA fan, this Thanksgiving weekend was doubly special because it also saw the much-anticipated end of the 149-day lockout.

Put those two things together and that means one thing: rock-bottom prices on NBA lockout merchandise!

Did The Rangers Learn Nothing From The Joba Chamberlain Disaster?

Only in baseball can, “this guy is really good at his job—let’s change his job” be considered a sound business model.

The most recent instance of this motto received the final go-ahead yesterday when the Texas Rangers signed closer Joe Nathan and announced that incumbent closer Neftali Feliz would be making the transition to the starting rotation. The Rangers flirted with moving Feliz to the rotation at the beginning of 2011, but ultimately decided against it.

So why are the Rangers so desperate to move Feliz to the rotation now? Why would they take a young reliever who has been the bullpen linchpin of an AL powerhouse and change his role completely? It’s perplexing, especially since the Yankees have already provided a clear example of how that can work out. Continue reading
