Ridiculous Video: Surfer Garrett McNamara Sets Record By Riding 78-Foot Wave

Next time you’re thinking about a nice little beach vacation, you might want to rule out Nazaré, Portugal as a possible destination.

Last November at that very location, a surfer named Garrett McNamara (who has been described as “legendary” several times) rode what was unofficially called the largest wave ever surfed. Last week that claim was substantiated, and McNamara now holds the Guinness World Record after riding the wave that was measured at 78 feet by the Totally Tubular Big Wave Surfing Division at Guinness. Video: Andrew Bynum Just Now Realizes Defense Is Important

What a weekend for NBA fans! In just two days we saw Kevin Durant bounce in a game-winner, reigning MVP Derrick Rose suffer a season-ending injury, Rajan Rondo chest-bump a referee (not the good kind of chest-bump), and the Los Angeles Clippers execute one of the most extreme comebacks in playoff history. Oh, and let’s not forget the Dwight Howard-less Orlando Magic stealing Game One from the Indiana Pacers on the road.

Not to be lost in the shuffle was the Lakers’ Andrew Bynum’s performance in the series opener against the Denver Nuggets. Bynum dominated the paint while putting together the first Lakers playoff triple double since legendary point guard Smush Parker Magic Johnson did it in 1991. Video: Kelly Leak is a Bad Mother

I mentioned Bad News Bears in my previous post, so I couldn’t help but do a quick YouTube search to try to get some gems. The obvious choices would be the profanity-laced, racist tirades courtesy of young Tanner Boyle, and those are readily available, but I decided to go with a different type of clip.

Here is the Bears’ lone African-American (and seemingly the only one in the entire town) Ahmad Abdul Rahim, expressing his doubts about bringing the talented-but-troubled Kelly Leak onto the squad. The movie was made in 1976, and never is that fact more apparent than in this clip. Enjoy. Continue reading
